Mindfulness for families and children of any age
We live and work within challenging, fast paced and uncertain times and mindfulness helps us to develop a new set of skills to stay steady in the midst of all this. Practicing mindfulness is an investment in our physical and mental wellbeing, enabling a way of life that can enhance wellness, joy, creativity and flourishing.
New Forest Mindfulness offers sessions for adults and children in partnership with The Retreat New Forest. These experiential classes provide an introduction to the practice of mindfulness for those newer to the subject, as well as a deepening of understanding and practice for those already experienced.
In these classes we will spend time outdoors in nature together in the beautiful gardens and woodland of The Retreat New Forest, recharging our batteries and reconnecting with the world around us and each other. Through practicing mindfulness together we will explore what it is to be human and how to cultivate qualities such as patience, compassion, non-judging and letting be / letting go.
Classes include a mix of lying down and sitting meditations combined with gentle movement-based meditations and can be tailored to all physical needs.
Together we will learn more about:
How our minds, bodies, feelings and behavior are connected
How to live more fully in the present moment, rather than living in our heads, in the past or in the future
How to begin to manage big feelings without getting caught up in them or carried away by them
How we can get stuck in unhelpful thinking patterns and how to practice getting unstuck from them
How to work with difficult or negative thoughts rather than buying into them
How to steady attention
How to foster a friendly and kind relationship towards ourselves as well as others
How to be more self-compassionate
